Better results, faster

Nexus was the first professional Interim Management provider in Denmark.
The concept has caught on – with good reason.

Formerly, when management competencies were required, the choice was simple, but not always satisfactory: employ a new manager, or find a suitable candidate within the enterprise. Either way, the selection process could take a long time, and there was no guarantee that the results would prove satisfactory.

In 2000, Nexus introduced the concept of Interim Management, which enabled enterprises to find the right manager profile for any particular role, and keep him or her until the assignment is completed. What’s more, it was possible to employ the right person for the job immediately – and for the length of time required.

This gave better results, faster – at a known charge and for a predefined time period. Not surprising that Interim Management instantly filled a gaping chasm in the market, and has now become an attractive choice for dynamic and visionary organizations.

What is Interim Management?

Additional management resources with the exact competency profile that is needed. And for a limited time period, typically between two months and two years.

With Interim Management, you can add an experienced manager or specialist to your team within just 10 days, allowing you to respond quickly to, for example, new moves by your competitors. This is an attractive alternative to using consultants, or hiring new staff a bit too quickly.

Traditionally, consultants focus on strategic questions through analysis and counselling. The Interim Manager, on the other hand, focuses on the implementation of new strategies or changes, functioning as a member of the management team and taking operational responsibility.

The Interim Manager and the enterprise have identical interests and success criteria. Adding competent resources helps drive the organization forward through implementation, cooperation, coaching and support of existing teams.

This is not only agreeable for the client, but also for the Interim Manager, who has chosen varying challenges out of preference. For the Interim Manager, variation is a lifestyle.

What are the advantages for you?

Known costs, rapid response time, highly specialized expertise and new inspiration for the enterprise’s own teams of managers and specialists.

While the Interim Manager works in the enterprise for just a few months until a given assignment is accomplished, the collaboration typically leaves a lasting effect – both in terms of concrete results and new inspiration.

  • Known, budgetable expenses – It’s expensive to recruit and employ a new manager or specialist. The Interim Manager is an economically attractive alternative.
  • Matching competency profile – You can specify very exact requirements for an Interim Manager, because he or she will typically be given a clearly defined assignment.
  • Rapid response time – We can supply you with the right person for your organization within just 10 days. This allows you to respond rapidly to your market.
  • Internal professional inspiration – An Interim Manager is not an external consultant, but part of the internal organization. This breathes new, professional inspiration into your staff.
  • Maximum flexibility – We can offer flexible contracts with as little as one week’s notice. This provides you with minimum risk and maximum flexibility.
  • More time to find the right solution – When managers leave they sometimes leave critical staffing gaps behind them – gaps that have to be filled quickly. An Interim Manager gives you breathing space and lets you take the time you need to find the right solution.

The list goes on. Utilizing Interim Management as a strategic management tool and option offers a great many benefits and solves many of the problems that otherwise can be a burden on both your budget and for your work climate.

The strategic advantage

Combining a ”lean” management team with interim, highly qualified expertise enables the enterprise to react quickly now, and in the future.

More and more enterprises are using Interim Management as a dynamic part of their business strategy. Interim Managers fill gaps in the organization caused by illness, leave, etc., and maintain momentum and competitiveness.

Nowadays, most enterprises are so thinly manned that problems can arise if just one single key player is missing from the team. The result can be reduced competitiveness and interrupted projects. And this is where Interim Management comes in.

When Interim Management forms part of corporate strategy, a company is less vulnerable to unexpected resignations, new moves by competitors, sudden market convulsions, and the like. When necessary, dedicated project resources can swiftly be deployed.

The ever increasing demands for greater efficiency and better results in ever more competitive environments are a hard nut to crack for many enterprises. The strategic application of Interim Management, however, can help crack that nut.

What are our typical assignments?

Of course, it’s hard to pigeonhole our very varied challenges, but most Interim Management assignments fall under one of three headings:

Gap management
Where there are temporary shortages of management or specialist resources. An Interim Manager can normally be put into place within 10 days, that is to say, before the problem negatively affects competitiveness. The Interim Manager possesses experience in your area of business, and can transfer skills and contacts to your team, which will remain long after he or she has left. At the same time, your company wins the time needed to find the right person for the vacant permanent position.

Project management
When the existing management needs a supplement for a predefined project. This includes implementation of consultant reports, ISO projects, generational changes, change management projects, IT projects, analyses of work processes, relocation of plant or premises, and the like.

Strategic management tool
In cases where Interim Management is used as a strategic management tool, the organization can be adapted so that an Interim Manager can be attached as and where needed. Then the right competencies will be in place for establishing new business areas, launching new products and services, rationalizing and restructuring, for example. This is both flexible and farsighted.
